BRECHIN CITY 1 STIRLING ALBION 1

- Wilson disappointed by a point but positives to take

Brechin City and Stirling Albion shared the spoils after an entertaining match at Glebe Park which ended one goal apiece.

Theopening45minutes were evenly balanced but City got their noses in front just a minute into the second half when Chris McLaughlin picked up the ball wide on the left and delivered an inchperfect cross into the box for veteran striker Paul McManus who had time and space to pick his spot in the net.

McManus had an opportunity to double City’s lead in the 67th minute when he had another free header in the box but on this occasion he steered it wide of the target.

City paid the price just a minute later when their former skipper Paul McLean rose above the home defence to steer a looping header beyond Lewis McMinn in the home goal.

The Binos began to dictate play, pushing forward at every opportunity and McMinn had to come to his side’s rescue deep into injury time when he brought off a superb save from Cameron Thomson to ensure his side finished the match with a hardwon point.

City manager Mark Wilson, although disappointed with the outcome, felt there were plenty of positives to take from his side’s performance.

He said: “It’s hugely disappointing to drop a point because I thought that we were excellent up until the moment when we missed our second clear-cut chance of the match.

“If we’d scored at that stage it would have been 2-0 and the game is dead and buried.

“Our goalie’s had to make a terrific save right at the end to get us a point but we should have been two or even three goals up before Stirling scored.”
