Reuse and recycling group given £9k grant for a part-time worker
A group of Perth environmentalists have been given a share of a £1.2 million funding pot.
Letham Climate Challenge was given £9,000 in the latest round of National Lottery Awards for All funding.
The cash will enable the group to employ a community engagement worker to support the expansion of their community reuse, recycling and environmental activities.
Christine Sloan, treasurer and trustee of Letham Climate Challenge, said: “We have a simple aim; reduce waste, recycle, reuse, swap and save money. This funding will enable us to employ a parttime recycling support worker who will develop further our activities within the community and local primary schools.
“As one of a small group of dedicated volunteers, I can say that receiving this grant is a tremendous encouragement and allows us to be excited about the future of the project.
The group was one of 137 local organisations from across Scotland enjoying a share of £1,245,835 of National Lottery Awards for All grants.
A National Lottery Awards for All spokeswoman said: “Over the last 25 years, National Lottery players have raised an amazing £3.1 billion for 64,000 good causes in Scotland.
“Most of these awards have been for £10,000 or less so it’s wonderful to be able to celebrate this birthday milestone with a further 173 groups benefiting.
“It’s great to see groups across Tayside and Fife sharing in the celebrations with projects that will bring local people together to meet new friends, learn new skills and build confidence among people of all ages.”
