Scouts tell Conservative MSP of plans for environment project

-

Local Scouts have met with a Perthshire politician to discuss ideas how to better protect the environment.

The Scouts have announced that over the next four years, they will work with charity experts to tackle six of Scotland’s biggest social issues.

A group of young people selected six issues of national importance that represent young people’s concerns, including ending homelessness, better mental wellbeing for all, understanding disability, supporting refugees and displaced children, kindness in every community and protecting the environment.

Murdo Fraser met with Scouts, including Scouts Scotland Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP) Gregor Mitchell, from Dunfermline.

Mr Fraser, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region for the Scottish Conservatives, was keen to hear about the project and what the Scouts will be doing to protect our environment.

Alongside WWF, Scouts will complete biodiversity health checks on their local area and act to restore nature for future generations

He said: “I was delighted to meet some of the Scouts who are involved in this exciting project and learned a lot about the work they carry out.

“It is always worthwhile getting involved in projects such as these to help protect the environment, so it is good to see the Scouts have endeavoured to roll out this initiative over the next four years.”

To help the Scouts with these projects they have partnered with WWF, Crisis, Mind, National Autistic Society, The British Red Cross and Save the Children.
