Webinars scheduled to keep farmers up to date during lockdown
The AHDB is keeping farmers updated by running a series of virtual events and webinars during the Covid-19 restrictions.
The 30 or so webinars currently in the pipeline are scheduled to take place in the early evening, and they all include a question and answer session.
The diverse range of topics that will be covered offer opinions from experts and farmers; including those from the strategic farm network of which three – covering dairy, cereals and potatoes – are in Scotland.
Podcasts will also be offered on updates from the levy body’s Market Insight analysts and other relevant information across the farming sectors.
A recent webinar for dairy farmers which is still available to view focused on encouraging producers to take action to reduce milk volumes now without putting the future of the herd at risk.
In that episode nutritionist Hefin Richards emphasised the importance of making changes that have a short-term impact on production but also protect prospects in the longer term.
A webinar looking at tyre technology and soil compaction titled Tyre, Traction and
Compaction has also taken place and featured Stephen Lamb from Bridgestone and Harry Henderson of AHDB.
The session focused on tyre choice, the benefits of a VF (Gen3) field-based tyre, soil compaction and the importance of the square inch, tyre pressure management and the need to have a balanced tractor.
This webinar, together with all the other webinars and podcasts, can be viewed in AHDB’s Knowledge Library on the website www.ahdb. org.uk
