• SNOOKER: Perth’s Scott Donaldson will miss next week’s World Snooker Championsh­ips following a heavy defeat in last night’s final qualifying round against Matthew Selt in Sheffield.

The pair were evenly matched on paper and the first four frames were shared, but Donaldson failed to pot a ball in two of the last three frames, as Selt rolled in two century breaks to win 10-3.

• GOLF: The European Tour will return to Belgium in 2022 when the Rinkven Internatio­nal Golf Club hosts the Soudal Open.

The £865,000 event will take place in May or June, with the exact dates to be confirmed.

The Tour will also co-sanction the 2021 Australian PGA Championsh­ip with the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasi­a.

The tournament will take place from December 2-5 2021 at Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane.

• CYCLING: Mark Cavendish doubled up with his second victory in as many days at the Tour of Turkey yesterday.

Having ended a three-year wait for victory on Monday, Cavendish again had his hands in the air on the 212-kilometre stage three from Beysehir as the Deceuninck-QuickStep rider retained the overall race lead.
