BiFab contract news a huge boost to area

-

The news that fresh work is finally on the horizon for the former BiFab yard in Methil is cause for celebration for the workers who have suffered in recent times.

Skilled employees who take a pride in their labour get the chance to showcase their talents once more. But it’s also a bonus for their families and the wider community.

As the people employed by the fabrication yard take pride again in their trade, they are able to support their nearest and dearest and everyone enjoys the spin-off.

The content of pay packets filters through the very fabric of the towns and villages, with local businesses benefiting once again from customers eager spend hardearned wages.

The whole mood is uplifted as people get the chance to enjoy the fruits of their labours instead of spending every waking moment worrying how to pay the bills.

Through no fault of their own, the people of this hard-pressed part of Fife have been put through an economic and emotional wringer. They deserve better, and perhaps their luck is about to change.

Hopefully the fabrication work for the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm is just the starting point on a journey of regeneration for the local economy, with many more lines being entered in the order book.

The current contract may be worth £26 million to InfraStrata. But to the people of Methil it is priceless. to
