Morgan hoping to add to caps tally

-

Lewis Morgan has revealed his desire to fight his way back into Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad.

The Inter Miami winger has not played for his country for three years since winning his only two caps.

He was in line for a call-up for Scotland’s Nations League games against Israel and Czech Republic in September but the pandemic stopped him from joining.

Quarantine rules meant he could have missed up to eight games for Miami, but the 24-year-old is focused on reigniting his international career.

“Playing for your national team is the biggest honour a player can have and it’s definitely a goal I have to force myself back into that set-up,” said Morgan.

Morgan, who was voted Miami’s MVP in his debut MLS season last term after joining from Celtic, is preparing for tomorrow’s opener against LA Galaxy.

He scored five goals in 25 appearances and now, under Phil Neville, believes Inter can improve after finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference and 19th overall in their first campaign.

He said: “I don’t think anyone could say they were at their best last year – I include myself in that – we all recognise that and we all want to put it right. We are all motivated.

“The manager is very hands on, him and his staff are very detailed, they are very clear and have an identity of how they want to play.”
