Police called to Perth street after man dies

Detectives are appealing for informatio­n following a serious assault in Dundee on Saturday night.

Around 11.05pm police were called to an ongoing disturbanc­e on the grass area to the rear of Yeaman’s Lane.

Officers attended and a 47-year-old man was found with serious head and facial injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital, where he remains.

Detective Sergeant Craig Kelly from Dundee CID said: “This was a violent assault and extensive inquiries are ongoing to trace the person responsibl­e.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or noticed anything at all suspicious, to please get in touch via 101, quoting incident number 5001 of April 17.

Meanwhile, detectives are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Kirkcaldy. At around 10pm on Saturday, April 10, two men were involved in an altercatio­n in Chapel Road, which resulted in a 19-year-old man being taken to Victoria Hospital, where he was treated for stab wounds and later discharged.

From inquiries carried out so far, it is understood a large group of youths may have been present at the time of the incident.
