In memoriam of the former captain general of the Royal Marine Corps, Prince Philip, East of Scotland Royal Marines Associatio­n laid a wreath at 3pm on Saturday and held a 15-minute silence at their Globe and Laurel garden in Arbroath.

Prince Philip held captain general role 64 years.

The position has now been taken over by Princess Anne.

The memorial service was organised by Sgt Phil Scotthorne who also laid a wreath in Prince Philip’s honour. Corporal Roddy Sutherland was the standard-bearer and lowered the colours during the ceremony. the for
