Definition disagreement
“With reference to the explanation of the workings of the ‘pulleyshee’ in Tuesday’s column,” emails Alf Small of Broughty Ferry, “I must disagree with the former conveyancing solicitor’s definition of ‘pulley’.
“I have never heard of ‘pulley’ being a rope. Even the Oxford English Dictionary states that it is ‘a wheel over which a rope etc passes’. Perhaps his definition is some legal term. Maybe someone with maritime knowledge could comment on what they understand to be a ‘pulley.’”
