Fifers out to leapfrog Clyde in crunch clash

-

East Fife boss Darren Young admits this afternoon’s crunch clash with Clyde is a massive game at the foot of the table.

The Bayview side sit bottom of the League One standings, two points adrift of today’s opponents, but know a win could see them leapfrog the Bully Wee.

Young said: “It is still only November, but there is no getting away from the fact it is a big, big game for both sides.

“If we can get the win, it brings us back amongst the pack and hopefully then we can start pushing further up the table.

“We know it will be difficult against them as it always is, and we were disappointed to lose 2-0 in the first game when two goals in two minutes basically did us.

“Their first was a great strike and then they got the break of the ball for the second, but ultimately they were just ruthless and that is something we need to be better at.”

Young added: “Obviously we are never happy getting beat, but again we showed some positive signs last week against Airdrie.

“We felt we limited them to shots from distance and when it is 1-0, you always feel you are in the game and we had real opportunities.

“We kept going like we did against Queen’s Park and tried to get the equaliser, but it wasn’t to be.

“Results elsewhere did not harm us too much, but it sets up a big weekend for us and if we can try to use our form of late and be hard to beat at the other end, we have a good chance of getting a result.”

Kieran Millar will sit out through suspension after his red card against Airdrie, but Chris Higgins and Aaron Dunsmore are back in contention following injury. However, Ross Dunlop, Michael Cunningham and Danny Swanson remain out.
