Cowden boss calls for calm and more belief

-

Cowdenbeath boss Maurice Ross says the Blue Brazil need to trust the process ahead of facing Forfar Athletic this afternoon.

Ross’s men continue to sit bottom of League Two and the former Rangers and Scotland defender admits they can’t change everything overnight.

He said: “Last week against Elgin, our discipline in the shape was good in the first half and it felt like the plan had worked in that sense.

“It just felt like we were a bit stressed and rushed with the final pass when we tried to find Buchs (Liam Buchanan) and Quinn Coulson between the lines. That is the key moment in those situations, and we have spoken this week about trying to give them a sense of calm.

“They are good footballers, but they have just got to believe in themselves a bit more, because I think it is perhaps a sense of fear or stress because we are bottom.

“If you don’t trust the process, what is the point of having an ideology or philosophy?

“If things don’t improve automatically or you don’t see stark progress within two weeks and just kick it forward, there would be no real value in that. We are doing all we can to change the current circumstances and we had another brilliant week of training.

“It will be another tough one at Forfar, but that is the beauty of football.

“It will no doubt be a very good football match. We of course just want to be on the right end of things unlike the past couple of weeks. I’d love the ball to hit one of our strikers on the back and go in. Just that stroke of fortune would be good.”

Striker Kris Renton continues to miss out with a knee injury but captain Craig Barr is available again.
