Boy, 9, taken to hospital with facial injuries after being struck by a van

Police have launched an investigat­ion after a nineyear-old boy was struck by a van in Rosyth.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm on Wednesday December 1 on Primrose Lane in Rosyth.

The youngster suffered what police describe as minor facial injuries and was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment.

One eyewitness reports seeing a female passenger getting out of the white transit van and talking to the injured boy.

The male driver of the vehicle is then alleged to have driven away a short time after the incident.

It’s understood officers have since traced the driver as enquiries into the full circumstan­ces of the incident continue.

The injured boy’s family have also appealed on social media for witnesses to come forward.

Facebook page they have called for anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the area to come forward.

“Any footage would be very helpful to improve/ change the safety system on this road to prevent this happening again,” the post said.

Commenting on the incident, a Police Scotland spokespers­on said: “We received a report of a nineyear-old boy having been struck by a van on Primrose Lane in Rosyth around 3.20pm on Wednesday, December 1 2021. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstan­ces.”

Meanwhile, two people were taken to hospital after a crash that left the A92 shut near Cowdenbeat­h on Tuesday.

Emergency services, including five fire engines, were called to the twovehicle smash just after 7am.

Traffic was at a standstill in the area as the dual carriagewa­y was closed on both sides.

A spokespers­on for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed five of its vehicles had been sent to the crash.

Fire crews left the scene at 8.43am and two people were taken to hospital.

And a woman has been taken to Ninewells Hospital following a crash on the A92 near the north-east Fife village of Rathillet.

All lanes on the motorway were restricted following the collision between a van and a car. Police and an ambulance were called to the scene at 5pm yesterday.

The female driver of the car was taken to hospital in an ambulance and the road reopened fully at 6.20pm.

Drivers reported “standstill” traffic on a stretch of the Fife road with restrictio­ns in both directions.

The collision led to delays and tailbacks in the area, with motorists advised to use a different route.
