Jeanfield beaten at Tranent title party

-

Jeanfield Swifts took on the role of spectators as Tranent took the three points they needed to win the East of Scotland League Premier Division title.

Jamie Docherty put Tranent in front after Aaron Whitehead was penalised for a foul in the box and in first-half stoppage-time Mccormack doubled Tranent’s lead.

The second half was a low-key affair as the preparations began for a title party and the game brought a disappointing end to Jeanfield’s season.

Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts came from behind twice at home to Whitehill Welfare before completing the season wit a 4-2 victory.

Bryan Wilson gave the visitors the lead but Swifts went in at halftime level thanks to Greig Spence’s stoppage-time equaliser.

Liam Ireland restored Whitehill’s lead on 55 minutes but Swifts were level once again on the hour through Josh Morris

An own goal saw Swifts take the lead for the first time and Spence popped up with his second and Swifts’ fourth on 68 minutes.

Hill of Beath ended the season on a high, beating Dundonald Bluebell 4-1 at Moorside Park.

Lewis Elder gave Hill of Beath the lead and Ryan Connelly doubled the advantage four minutes before the break.

Elder made it three and although Bluebell pulled a goal back on 88 minutes there was still time for Arran Dair to restore the three-goal lead with the Haws’ fourth goal in stoppage-time.

The club announced yesterday that manager Kevin Fotheringham had tendered his resignation following the game and it had reluctantly been accepted.

New St Andrews United manager Robbie Raeside started his tenure with a fine 3-1 win away from home against Arniston Rangers, who ended the game with nine men.

Both Thornton Hibs and Rosyth are almost guaranteed a place in next season’s First Division after a 3-3 draw at The Memorial Ground.

Rosyth took the lead through Hill but Garry Thomson equalised.

It only took Myles Wilson three minutes to restore Rosyth’s lead but Thomson equalised for a second time.

Stuart Drummond gave Thornton the lead for the first time from the penalty spot on 53 minutes but it was no surprise that Rosyth equalised on 67 minutes through Garry Leighton.

In Conference B the game between Kinnoull and Peebles Rovers at Tulloch Park was called off at the request of the visitors.

Lochore Welfare still, technically, need a point to secure a First Division place following their 3-1 defeat at home to Fife rivals Burntisland Shipyard.

Darrell Anthony put Shippy in front but Lochore soon levelled. Ben Anthony put Burntisland in front before Welfare were reduced to 10 men.
