Conference will examine future of Dunfermline
A vision for the future of Dunfermline will be established at the city’s first conference.
Fife Council will host the first Dunfermline City Conference, bringing together community and economic stakeholders at Glen Pavilion on June 27.
More than 300 community stakeholders have been invited to attend,
It will be the first time since Dunfermline was granted city status last May that members of business, sport, development and the wider community will have a forum to discuss their ideas moving forward.
There will be speakers, workshops and video blogs that will highlight successes and improvements.
Dunfermline’s membership of the Scottish Cities Alliance and the city’s progress towards SMART city projects and technological development will also be discussed.
James Calder, convener of the city’s area committee, said: “As the ancient capital and now eighth city of Scotland, Dunfermline is a city of rich heritage and history.
“By spearheading the first ever Dunfermline City Conference, we want to focus on what the future looks like for Dunfermline and collaborate with all our
partners on how we can set out a strong future vision.
“We intend for this first conference to define a clear path for all our stakeholders to work together to ensure Dunfermline is a thriving, inclusive city that provides opportunities for all.”
Altany Craik, Fife Council spokesperson for finance, economy and strategic planning, said: “Dunfermline is one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and we are fortunate to have a vast range of stakeholders that we hope will grow with the city.
“From affordable housing developments to business and manufacturing to the new £180 million Dunfermline Learning Campus opening next year, there are plenty of projects and investment happening across the city at the moment.”
