MILLWALL STILL KEEN ON HIBEES STAR NISBET

-

Millwall are still interested in Kevin Nisbet – even though the Hibs striker turned the English Championship side down in January.

As Hibs yesterday announced that experienced playmaker Aiden Mcgeady would be one of five players leaving Easter Road this summer, it has emerged that Millwall remain hopeful of landing Scotland international Nisbet.

The 26-year-old former Raith and Dunfermline striker, who scored 12 goals last season after returning from an ACL injury in December, rejected a £2.3 million switch to the London club during the last transfer window.

Speaking about that decision for the first time, Nisbet said: “Sometimes you just get a feeling it isn’t the right time to go

“It was more down to me and how I was feeling at the time. Millwall understood that.

“It’s life-changing money. But for me just to come back from a major injury it was just a feeling I wanted to stay here till the end of the season or further.”

With just a year remaining on his deal, Nisbet could now leave this summer, with Hibs also keen to maximise the player’s transfer value.

Mcgeady leaves Easter Road at the end of an injurydisrupted season.

The 37-year-old winger joined on a one-year deal but two long lay-offs restricted him to just 14 appearances, the majority of which came between December and February.

On-loan quartet CJ Egan-riley, Will Fish, Matthew Hoppe and Mykola Kuharevich are due to return to their parent clubs for the time being, although Hibs “are exploring the options to retain some of the loans”.
