LOOKING MY BEST FOR THE CAMERAS

The Cricket Paper - - ENGLAND TOUR OF BANGLADESH -

I’M not often asked for a selfie by a stranger, but this week it has started happening regularly.

Now, I’m not sure why the locals of Chittagong want their picture taken with me. Maybe it’s because as a westerner linked to the England cricket team I’m a novelty? Perhaps it’s a case of mistaken identity?

Whether or not my appearances on Bangladeshi TV this week will increase the selfie requests remains to be seen. As Alastair Cook netted on his own at the MA Aziz Stadium on Tuesday, one local journalist asked me for a few comments on England’s captain making his record 134th Test appearance.

I was happy to oblige.Yet within minutes, another half-dozen camera crews descended and I was off – giving each a rather flustered view on Cook’s landmark.

In a country of 160 million people there’s a fair chance my mug was plastered across quite a few TV screens. I’ll let you know if the selfie requests escalate…
