DESPITE a comprehensive Test series victory, South Africa go into the T20 series against Sri Lanka with a little bit of the unknown.

Jon-Jon Smuts, Theunis de Bruyn, Mangaliso Mosehle, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dane Paterson and Lungi Ngidi are all in line to make their T20 debuts for the Proteas.Though there will be some experienced heads in the form of skipper Farhaan Behardien, Imran Tahir, David Miller and Wayne Parnell.

For Sri Lanka, there are two uncapped players in their group in the shape of allrounder Thikshila de Silva and spinner Lakshan Sandakan. The tourists are currently on a six match losing streak in T20 cricket fallen to a 2-0 defeat in their most recent series against Australia at home.

This three match T20 series comes off the back of a onesided Test series, with South Africa wrapping up the whitewash with an innings victory inside three days in the final clash.

Having made 426 thanks to centuries from Hashim Amla and JP Duminy, the home bowlers then took control of the match.

Sri Lanka collapsed from 70-3 to 131 all out with Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada each picking up three wickets, and the follow on was duly enforced.

And the visitors didn’t fare much better second time round with Wayne Parnell’s 4-51 the pick of the bowling as Sri Lanka were all out for 177 to lose by an innings and 118 runs despite Dimuth Karunaratne’s half-century.

Leader: Farhaan Behardien
