Surrey loan star Burke to get game-time with Foxes
SURREY all-rounder James Burke will spend 2017 away from the Kia Oval having signed a season-long loan deal at Leicestershire.
Burke, 26, has played 12 first-class games for Surrey, taking 23 wickets and scoring 274 runs but he moves to Grace Road where he will be available to play all three competitions.
He won’t be available to play against Surrey in any competition but Leicestershire head coach Pierre de Bruyn is looking forward to welcoming Burke to the club.
De Bruyn said:“It is important for us to have depth in our squad and James is a highly talented allrounder. He will compete for a place in our side across all three competitions.
“James will add strength to our batting and bowling, and he is also a dynamic fielder.”
Burke also represented England at U17 and U18 level.
Surrey Director of Cricket Alec Stewart added:“This is a great opportunity for James to play all forms of cricket on a regular basis, allowing his game to develop. I wish him the best of luck and will be keeping a close eye on his performances.”
