We are in danger of wilting away say Red Rose...
Lancashire v Northants Fri, May 5, Aigburth, Liverpool, 11:00
LANCASHIRE batsman Liam Livingstone believes his side must formulate a winning gameplan quickly after two losses in the One-Day Cup North Group has dented their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages.
After defeat to Roses rivals Yorkshire on Bank Holiday Monday – having already lost to Leicestershire in their opener – stand-in captain Livingstone knows Lancashire cannot afford to lose many more.
And he believes their upturn in form must start in the next fixture against Northamptonshire in Liverpool today.
“We can’t lose too many more games,” said Livingstone. “We can’t keep brushing over the fact that we keep losing games.
“We’ve got to learn very quickly. The boys are keen to learn, and we are trying to get better in the way we play.
“We’re not a million miles away, but I still don’t think we know what our best balance is as a side yet.
“We’re trying different things, and hopefully things will click into place very quickly for us. Let’s hope that starts against Northants.
“It’s a change of scenery, and the pitches are usually all right at Liverpool. Hopefully, we can get back on the bike, not dwell on Yorkshire too much and get the boulder rolling.”
Northants are yet to taste victory in this season’s competition, losing two before a thrilling tie against Worcestershire.
