Dern­bach and Meaker ex­tend stays at the Oval

SUR­REY will still be able to call on the seam ser­vices of Jade Dern­bach and Stu­art Meaker af­ter the pair both signed new three-year con­tracts to keep them at the Oval un­til the end of the 2020 sea­son.

Both Dern­bach and Meaker have made Eng­land ap­pear­ances with 31-year-old Dern­bach fea­tur­ing 58 times for Eng­land in white-ball cricket be­tween 2011 and 2014.

Dern­bach made his Sur­rey de­but against In­dia A in 2003 be­fore es­tab­lish­ing him­self in the side from 2005 on­wards.

He has made 103 first-class ap­pear­ances, while star­ring in 138 List A matches and 131 T20 games.

Dern­bach said:“I am so pleased to have signed an ex­ten­sion here at Sur­rey.We have such a young and ex­cit­ing squad and I’m look­ing for­ward to push­ing for sil­ver­ware over the next three years.”

Fel­low right-armer Meaker, 28, played two ODIs for Eng­land against In­dia in 2011 and fea­tured in two T20 in­ter­na­tion­als against the same opposition a year later.

Meaker said: “I’ve spent an amaz­ing ten years at this great club now. Ev­ery year has pre­sented a new and ex­cit­ing chal­lenge and goal to achieve.

“Sign­ing this new con­tract shows just how ex­cited I am to con­tinue tak­ing on those challenges with the amaz­ing squad of play­ers we have at Sur­rey.”

This news fol­lows the new deals at Sur­rey for Ryan Pa­tel, Will Jacks and Gus Atkin­son and ex­ten­sions for Conor McKerr, Amar Virdi and Ol­lie Pope.
