The Last

Bat you bought/used? Gunn and Moore. They’re my sponsors so it keeps them happy. Song you downloaded? It was actually Sam Smith’s new album, The Thrill of it All. But that’s a bit embarrassing! Five-wicket haul? My last five-wicket haul was away to Durham in June, I took 6-34. I think they are my best figures so I was pretty happy with those. Injury you had? I had a side strain in the middle of last summer. It was a stinker, I’ve had two in the past. But that one had me out for about six or seven weeks which was pretty frustrating when all you want to do is be out there playing. Trophy you won? It wasn’t actually a cricket trophy. I won a trophy at go karting in the summer in Leicestershire. It was with a few of the lads. It was a nice trophy, straight on the mantelpiece. It probably only cost 99p but I don’t mind.

The Jury’s Out

Tea or Coffee? Coffee, hands down. Your last meal if you were on death row? I’d have unlimited wings then it wouldn’t end! 50-over, T20 or County Championship? I’ve got to go with T20 – you get a decent crowd in and the atmosphere is great, too.

Time added on

Who did you support as a boy? I didn’t get into cricket until quite late. But I always keep an eye on my old teams like Lancashire and Leicestershire. Maybe Leicestershire a bit more as a local boy. But I didn’t have a county I’d watch when I grew up. Best coach you have ever played with? Lloyd Tennant at Leicestershire. He got to know me really well and the way he worked was pretty good. He was a really good coach, very personable and was a big influence on me. Who’s the most nervous person when you’re next into bat? Liam Livingstone at Lancashire. He puts on a big persona that he’s really chilled but, actually, he’s bricking it before he goes in. Person to avoid after being dismissed? Rory Kleinveldt. I sit next to him in the corner in the dressing room and it’s not too pretty when he comes in. I have to vacate the area very quickly when he’s walking back. Which TV pundit do you really listen to? Bumble or Rob Key. I’ll go with Rob Key, though, I’m enjoying his stuff at the minute. He’s very relevant. He’s played top-class cricket within the past couple of years and he speaks a lot of sense to me. He’s not a ‘Yes’ man, either, and he’ll say what he thinks. One rule change? Now, this is a tricky one. There’s plenty of options. Let’s go for a fourth stump. Gives the bowlers a bit more of a chance, you’d see more wickets, too. Do you have any superstitions? I try not to have any of them. I try to keep it as clean and as simple as possible otherwise I will just get far too worried and wouldn’t be able to focus when I needed to. Hobbies? I’m a secret darts player, I love the arrows. I actually play for my local pub team. I’m not too bad. I’m pretty good at hitting double tops, but not too great at anything else.

And finally:

Who is the worst dressed player at the club? Josh Cobb, but he doesn’t dress himself. He gets his missus to do it. Pretty much, head to toe, he must wear it. She says you must wear this and that. He wears Louis Vuitton, corduroy skinny jeans. I’m not keen on it whatsoever. He doesn’t need to wear it, it’s not for me.
