Pop à la Parisienne

The Daily Telegraph - Review - - THE CRITICAL LIST - By Mark Hudson and Alastair Sooke

Startlingly original and remarkably modern posters by the great postimpressionist and his fin de siècle peers, evoking the edgy glamour of Belle Époque Paris, while paving the way for 20th-century notions of “iconic” fame. The V&A’s photography galleries have scrubbed up a treat, retaining their Victorian ambience while providing a post-Instagram history of the medium. With highlights on show from the 400,000 items the museum has newly acquired from the Royal Photographic Society, it’s a tribute to the timeless physical beauty of a great photograph.
