STRICTLY COME DANCING

-

BBC One, 7.10pm

You know Strictly is getting into full swing when the first of the theme weeks comes around, and now, it’s Movie Week, where all the songs come from films and the dressing-up goes up another gear.

Bookies’ favourites Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse will be dancing the Charleston to Trip a Little Light Fantastic, sung by Lin-Manuel Miranda in Mary Poppins Returns, Alex Scott and Neil Jones are Rumba-ing to How Far I’ll Go from Moana, and Will Bayley and Janette Manrara will be doing the Paso Doble to the theme from Pokemon, Gotta Catch ‘em All – the mind boggles as to what the costumes will look like for that.

Our Telegraph columnists, Viscountess Emma Weymouth and Michelle Visage, look to be in for a fun time tonight; with the former and partner Aljaž Škorjanec aristocratically dancing the Foxtrot to the theme from Downton Abbey, while the latter (currently appearing on BBC Three in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK) will be dancing the Quickstep with parter Giovanni Pernice to the theme from the film Cabaret. Will she go the full Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles?

Despite the relatively unknown celebrities this year, this season is hugely entertaining, with great dancing. Clair Woodward
