BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

This is the most incoherent blockbuster in years – even Batman (Ben Affleck) has no idea what’s going on. The final brawl is exactly what you want in a film called Batman v Superman, but the ambitions of Zack Snyder’s film – a sequel to his superb Man of Steel – wildly exceed its reach. Even so, it’s bright and colourful, and will appeal to those who want every last superhero fix.

The final event of the Race to Dubai concludes this weekend. After Sunday’s finale (6.30am), highlights air on BBC Two at 5pm. The new season begins not with the Hong Kong Open, cancelled due to unrest in the territory; instead, on Thursday, the South African Alfred Dunhill Championship will see Ernie Els lead a strong field (10.30am). group-stage match on terrestrial channels this week is the one at Allianz Park. Sarries are beset by off-field troubles, docked 35 Premiership points for breaching the salary cap and now bottom of that table. On Friday, the FA Cup magic continues with a second-round game on BBC Two between Maldon & Tiptree and Newport County or Grimsby Town (7.30pm; kick-off 7.55pm).
