This is the most incoherent blockbuste­r in years – even Batman (Ben Affleck) has no idea what’s going on. The final brawl is exactly what you want in a film called Batman v Superman, but the ambitions of Zack Snyder’s film – a sequel to his superb Man of Steel – wildly exceed its reach. Even so, it’s bright and colourful, and will appeal to those who want every last superhero fix.

The final event of the Race to Dubai concludes this weekend. After Sunday’s finale (6.30am), highlights air on BBC Two at 5pm. The new season begins not with the Hong Kong Open, cancelled due to unrest in the territory; instead, on Thursday, the South African Alfred Dunhill Championsh­ip will see Ernie Els lead a strong field (10.30am). group-stage match on terrestria­l channels this week is the one at Allianz Park. Sarries are beset by off-field troubles, docked 35 Premiershi­p points for breaching the salary cap and now bottom of that table. Still, they haven’t lost to their Welsh visitors for 11 year, and are favourites. Several other matches air on BT Sport 2 and 3 over the course of the weekend. side in scintillat­ing form, anything less than a win for the champions will be a body-blow to their title hopes. Earlier, West Ham host Tottenham Hotspur for the latter’s first match under José Mourinho (BT Sport 1, noon; kick-off 12.30pm); both sides are in dire straits, languishin­g 16th and 14th respective­ly. On Friday, the FA Cup magic continues with a second-round game on BBC Two between Maldon & Tiptree and Newport County or Grimsby Town (7.30pm; kick-off 7.55pm).
