This suitably wacky fantasy comedy, directed by Sharon Maguire of Bridget Jones’s Diary, tells the story of a young “godmother” in training from a magical world called The Motherland. She discovers that godmothers are in danger of disappearing, and goes on a mission to prove that they’re still needed. Jillian Bell is well-cast as the effervescent lead, delivering all the sweetness and light you’d expect from Disney at Christmas.
