Chelsea v Spurs Sun, Sky Main Event, 4pm

They couldn’t, could they? It wasn’t so long ago that Tottenham Hotspur looked uninspiring and their manager, Jose Mourinho, looked like a man out of time. Now both are looking a little bit special and a title bid is on the cards. Spurs bring their vaunted front three – Kane, Bale, Son – to Stamford Bridge, where Frank Lampard’s impressive Blues await. An early six-pointer for the title? Away from the gilded elite, it’s FA Cup Second Round weekend and there are plenty of games across the BBC and BT Sport. The picks include non-league Chorley visiting League One high-flyers Peterborough United (Sat, BT Sport 2, 5.15pm) and eighth-tier Marine hosting sixth-tier Havant and Waterlooville (Sun, BT Sport 1, 2.15pm). The draw for the Third Round takes place on Monday at 7pm on BBC One, ahead of Canvey Island, also eighth-tier, taking on Boreham Wood of the Conference Premier (BT Sport 1, 7pm). Who knows, there may even be a few fans in the stands.

Wales v England

Sat, Amazon Prime, 3pm

Twelve months can be an awfully long time in elite sport. Last November, Wales were bidding a tearful farewell to Warren Gatland (and, foolishly, Shaun Edwards) following another World Cup where they could count themselves unlucky to only be semi-finalists.

Now? It’s back to the bad old days as Welsh rugby scrambles for cohesion and an identity. Don’t expect any sympathy from England, who arrive in Llanelli confident of the win that will secure them a place in next weekend’s Autumn Nations Cup final. France face Italy at 8pm (Amazon), while Ireland take on Georgia on Sunday (Channel 4, 1.45pm).

Tyson v Jones Jr

Sat, BT Sport Box Office, midnight

A return of the glory days or a grim spectacle? In the small hours of Sunday morning, 54-year-old Mike Tyson will take on 51-year-old Roy Jones Jr in an eight-round exhibition bout in Los Angeles. More edifying fights this week include Londoners Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce competing for the vacant EBU heavyweight title tonight (BT Sport 1, 7.30pm) and Brits Billy Joe Saunders and Martin Murray competing for the WBO super-middleweight title (Sky Arena, 7pm).
