The presenter finally undertakes one of his most longed-for journeys: riding the “Lunatic Line” from Mombasa’s Kilindini Harbour in Kenya to the edge of Lake Victoria. Those who built the line

had to contend with everything from inhospitable terrain to flesh-eating maggots. The result is one of the great if somewhat ramshackle rail experiences.
