AMERICAN FOOTBALL SPORT ON TV Six Nations
Super Bowl LV: Kansas City Chiefs v Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, Sky Main Event, 10pm & BBC One, 11.30pm
Break out the nachos and corn dogs, don your novelty beer helmet and settle in for the long haul – it’s Super Bowl Sunday. After a frantic few weeks of play-off action, AFC champions Kansas City Chiefs, led by prodigious young quarterback Patrick Mahomes, face off against NFC winners Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady. His move from the New England Patriots at the start of this season after 20 years with the franchise seemed a sign that the 43-year-old was on his way out. Guess again. The game will be played in front of 25,000 fans at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa – the first time any side has had home advantage.
TEST CRICKET England v India
Saturday-Tuesday, Channel 4/All4, 3.40am
In a rare victory for terrestrial television,
and indeed the game of cricket, Channel 4 won the rights to broadcast England’s series in India, meaning Test cricket will be free-to-air for the first time since the epic 2005 Ashes series. If the thought of Jofra Archer cracking yorkers into the feet of Virat Kohli at the click of a button doesn’t get you up in the morning, we don’t know what will. Today is the second day of the first Test in Chennai.
Sat & Sun, BBC & ITV
The greatest show in rugby returns – without fans. See What to Watch on p22 for a full run down, with Italy v France (ITV, 2.15pm) and England v Scotland (ITV, 4.45pm) on Saturday, and Ireland v Wales on Sunday (BBC One, 3pm).
