FORMULA 1 Monaco Grand Prix Sunday, Sky Main Event, 12.30pm (start 2pm)

There’s nothing quite like a Formula 1 car screaming down a residential street at 180mph. Throw in the champagne-soaked glamour of Monte Carlo and you have one of the finest spectacles in sport – just try to ignore the lack of overtaking. Lewis Hamilton has struggled at Monaco in the past, with a measly three race wins, but will take heart from championship rival Max Verstappen’s torrid record. The Dutchman has retired twice in five attempts, and never finished on the podium. Red Bull need him to buck the trend if they’re to stay in touch with Mercedes, who are beginning to assert some dominance after a wonderfully competitive start to the season. As ever, you can watch qualifying on Saturday (Sky Sports F1, 2pm).

CYCLING Giro d’Italia Sat-Fri, Eurosport 1

The first Grand Tour of the year got off to an eventful start with broken

bones, riders being run over and some rather un-Italian weather. Today’s Stage 14, 205km from Cittadella to Monte Zoncolan, is the toughest of the race, culminating in a nauseatingly steep summit finish upon the brutal Zoncolan. For the climbers, it’s a chance to go full tilt for la maglia rosa (the pink jersey). For everyone else, it’s survival mode – some GC hopes will be broken today.

RUGBY UNION

Champions Cup Final: La Rochelle v Toulouse Saturday, BT Sport 2, 4pm (kick off 4.45pm)

French rugby reigns supreme in Europe again after a six-year fallow period at the top of European competition. For La Rochelle, it’s their first appearance in a major final, following

a remarkable second season in charge for head coach Ronan O’Gara. Toulouse, meanwhile, are back in familiar territory, with a chance to move past Leinster as the most successful team in the competition’s history. 10,000 fans are expected at Twickenham today.

FOOTBALL Premier League final day Sunday, Sky Sports & BT Sport, 3pm

An unusually chaotic season receives a traditionally chaotic end, with all 20 Premier League sides in action from 4pm. The title is decided, as are the relegation places, so the drama will be confined to the race for Champions League qualification. FA Cup winners Leicester City host Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool take on Crystal Palace – who have a habit of breaking Scouse hearts – while Chelsea face Aston Villa ahead of their meeting with Man City in the Champions League final next week. Leicester are level on points with Liverpool, meaning they must better the Reds’ result to qualify, or overhaul a four-goal deficit on goal difference. If Chelsea lose, a win would see the Foxes through. Today, the Championship play-offs continue, with semi-final second legs between Bournemouth and Brentford (Sky Football, noon), then Swansea and Barnsley (6.30pm), with both Bournemouth and Swansea leading 1-0 on aggregate. On Wednesday, Manchester United head to Gdańsk to play Villarreal in the Europa League final

(BT Sport 1, 6.30pm).
