FOOTBALL Champions League Final: Manchester City v Chelsea Saturday, BT Sport 1, 6pm (kick off 8pm)

There was a moment this season when the Champions League looked dead in the water. Eleven European heavyweights – and Arsenal – each lent a single brain cell to the worst idea in football history: a breakaway European Super League, now condemned to the scrapheap. Two of those clubs meet in the final today at the Estádio do Dragão, Porto. Man City have broken their run of choke-prone campaigns to become the form side. They’re looking for a first European title, and a treble after winning the EFL Cup and Premier League. Thomas Tuchel has made Chelsea robust since taking charge, but they go in as underdogs as the Blues look to win their second Champions League trophy. Also today, Brentford play Swansea in the Championship playoff final (Sky Main Event, 2pm) and, on Wednesday, England take on Austria in a Euro 2020 warm-up friendly at the Riverside Stadium (ITV, 7.30pm).

CYCLING Giro d’Italia Sat-Sun, Eurosport 1

Saturday’s stage, from Verbania to Alpe Motta, features 4,200m of elevation and a gruelling summit finish. Britain’s Simon Yates and Hugh Carthy are in the mix for the Maglia Rosa, although Yates has had a hard week after leaving Turin the favourite. On Sunday, the

race ends with a 30km individual time trial into Milan that could shake things up at the death.

Premier 15s Final: Harlequins Women v Saracens Women Sunday, BT Sport 1, 3.45pm (kick off 4pm)

Quins brushed Wasps aside in the semi-final to

prove that there are still only two title contenders in the Premier 15s. They face Saracens in the play-off final for the third time in as many years, with the stage set at Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium. Both sides are studded with England stars, but Sarries have edged the rivalry in the previous two finals. Third time lucky for Quins?

TENNIS French Open

Sun-Fri, ITV4, from 9.30am/Eurosport 1 & 2

The summer season begins with the second Grand Slam of the year on the iconic red clay of Roland Garros in Paris. Rafael Nadal, probably the best clay court player there will ever be, is on the hunt for a scarcely believable 14th title. Australian Ashleigh Barty, champion in 2019, returns after missing last year’s tournament. Coverage will extend to ITV for the latter stages.
