FORMULA 1 Bahrain Grand Prix World Indoor Championships

-

Sat, Sky F1, 2.30pm

The opening Grand Prix of the 2024 Formula 1 season takes place at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir. In a rarity for the sport, the race is moved to Saturday to accommodate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which begins next Sunday. As the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix next weekend has moved to Saturday, so too has Bahrain, to ensure the full seven days between races. There are more changes afoot this season, with a record 24-race calendar pushing the packed schedule to its limit.

Red Bull dominated last season, with Max Verstappen winning 19 of 22 races. The Dutchman is already the favourite for a fourth consecutive World Championship after cruising to the fastest time during testing. Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, embarks on his final season with Mercedes after agreeing to join Ferrari next year. Hamilton won six titles with Mercedes in one of the most successful partnerships in Formula 1 history.
