The Boat Race Sat, BBC One, 2pm

The Boat Race remains the biggest rowing event outside of the Olympics. The 78th women’s race begins at 2.46pm. The 169th men’s race is at 3.46pm. Cambridge triumphed in both events last year, extending their winning records across the men’s and women’s races – the men have won four of the past five races, while Cambridge’s women are unbeaten since 2016. This year’s winners, however, will have to curtail their traditional celebrations of jumping into the River Thames, as high levels of E coli bacteria have been found on the course.

RUGBY UNION England v Wales Sat, BBC Two, 4.25pm

Defending champions (a phrase that barely does justice to their dominance in this competition) England take on Wales at Ashton Gate in the second round of the Women’s Six Nations (kick-off 4.45pm). The Red Roses overpowered Italy last weekend despite a

red card to Sarah Beckett in the 11th minute. Wales’s championship took a blow as they lost narrowly at home to Scotland, who face France earlier on Saturday (BBC iPlayer, 2pm). Ireland take on Italy on Sunday as they both look to avoid the wooden spoon (Sun, BBC iPlayer, 2.45pm). In the men’s game, Sale Sharks play Exeter Chiefs in the Premiership on Sunday (ITV1, 2.30pm).

CYCLING Tour of Flanders Sun, Eurosport 1, 8.30am

The Holy Week of

Flemish cycling climaxes with the second Monument of the season – a 270km, one-day ordeal over the steep cobbled climbs that surround the town of Oudenaarde in East Flanders. Two-time

Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar won the event last year after a blistering solo attack.

The most gripping Premier League title race in years continues as City host Arsenal at the Etihad (kick-off 4.30pm). Arsenal lead the league ahead of Liverpool on goal difference, while City are a single point off the pace. This crucial match marks the start of the run-in, with 10 games remaining. City will be confident of taking victory against a team they have already beaten twice this season. Liverpool face Brighton earlier in the day (Sky Main Event, 1pm). The Arsenal women’s side take on Chelsea in the League Cup final at the Molineux on Sunday (BBC Two, 2.30pm). The two sides also met in last year’s final, which Arsenal won. On Friday,

England’s Lionesses take on Sweden as they begin their campaign to qualify for Euro 2025 (ITV1, 7.30pm). Wales host Croatia (iPlayer, 7.15pm)
