We have spent the past 12 months dressing our gardens for al fresco entertaining, with rattan furniture making a comeback, householders splashing out on hot tub hire and twinkly lights draped across every hedge.

But this Easter, with life still limited, and the weather on the turn, it’s time to give the garden back to the kids. If this sounds like smug, selfless parenting… it’s not.
