HERBAL REMEDY
Evergreen herbs such as thyme, rosemary and lavender can look tired and weather-beaten after a long winter. We grow these plants for their fresh leaves and flowers, so it makes sense to encourage more. To get a fresh flush of growth, give them a light trim, cutting out all the dead bits, and cut those dried tips back. Once all the dead wood has been cleared away, you’ll have an open and spare shrub – this will fill in, don’t panic.
Buy some Growmore online or from a garden centre and sprinkle a handful around the base of the plant, where the roots are. Growmore is a general feed, which is like a multivitamin that gets all the systems in the plant moving. You can always repeat this every couple of months if the herbs don’t react as well as you’d hoped.
