MELANIE GRIFFITH IN WORKING GIRL IS MY BACK-TO-WORK MUSE
I’m back in suits – think Melanie Griffith in Working Girl (right). That’s me, working a strong-shoulder blazer and tailored trousers. Perhaps I am trying to dupe my brain into some semblance of confidence because, for me, getting back out there – be that a restaurant to meet friends or an office to meet colleagues – requires the sartorial version of a cold glass of champagne. Tailoring is confidence boosting, like armour. Ready to do battle on the commute? Me neither. But I am ready to meet people, and that will require swapping joggers for something more pulled together. Enter Rejina Pyo, my go-to for soft tailoring (this season’s skirt suit is a must). I’ll be heading to ACNE for something more “Fashion” with a capital F. As for the high street, there’s a sky-blue suit with a belted blazer at & Other Stories (£95, above) with my name on it. Confidence-boosting clothes for uncertain times? You can’t go wrong with tailoring. Bye bye, cardigans. Hello, blazers.
