Who has this week discovered a new favourite photo of HRH Prince Philip (the one of him swinging a polo mallet on a bicycle), but also a few of Princess Anne? Post The Crown there’s been renewed interest in Princess Anne’s style, which was largely overlooked at the time or else dismissed as rather dowdy. But now: wow. What we wouldn’t give to look like Anne barbecuing in Scotland in 1972? The blue boyfriend shirt, the big watch (classic Timex?), the kilt with the tea towel nonchalantly tucked into the waistband? This is the stuff of Vogue shoots. If she’s wearing walking boots and thick socks underneath (she probably is) – bingo.
