Amazing garden antiques up for auction in May
This Medusa stone head fountain, commissioned by the late fashion designer Gianni Versace, is one of many unique items being offered in a sale of garden statues and ornaments from the collection of Dutch antique dealer Piet Jonker. The ornamental and sculptural works are housed on the 18th-century country estate of De Lindenhoff, near Abcoude in the Netherlands. A unique limestone 20th-century sculpture of a brain is Piet Jonker’s favourite piece in the sale. From a private collection, this special commission was created by Italian sculptor Massimo Sarantonello. It is naturalistically modelled with distinct cerebral cortex detailing.
