Castleford’s 11th win in row is overshadowed by Eden injury

-

Castleford continued their march towards a first Super League title but their 38-14 win over Salford came at a cost with prolific winger Greg Eden set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Super League’s top tryscorer was forced from the field in obvious discomfort after injuring his shoulder as he finished spectacularly in the corner. Eden’s two firsthalf tries either side of Ben Roberts’ determined finish underlined his importance to the Tigers but Daryl Powell’s men still had more than enough to record their 11th league victory in a row.

Leeds overcame a string of crushing injury blows to overturn a 7-0 half-time deficit and claim a precious 10-7 win over Hull that strengthens their position in the top two of Betfred Super League.

Leeds lost prop Keith Galloway and makeshift centre Stevie Ward to injury inside 12 minutes while England winger Ryan Hall also went off before the end, although not before notching the 250th try of his career.

Lee Gaskell scored twice as Huddersfield wrecked Micky Higham’s 500th appearance celebrations while securing the Giants’ Super League status with a 26-4 victory over Leigh.

Centre Bill Tupou scored two tries and created two others as Wakefield beat Widnes Vikings 36-8 to maintain their push for a topfour finish in Super League.
