Rejuvenated Pogba
Comparing Paul Pogba's last 90-minute performance for Jose Mourinho – against Southampton – with his last full game for Solskjaer at Newcastle is revealing. At St Mary's, Pogba was a model of indiscipline, roaming all over the pitch except the area where he could hurt Southampton – in and around the penalty area. His passing was also largely restricted to safe areas away from the home goal.
At St James' Park, Pogba's performance was one of focussed intent. He had double the touches in the opposition box than he had against Southampton, and stayed far more disciplined in sticking to a left-sided attacking role. He also produced far more passes in the final third.
