Tottenham break transfer record to capture Ndombele
Tottenham Hotspur have smashed their transfer record to sign French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for £55 million.
The fee, which could rise to £65million with add-ons, surpasses the £42million spent to sign Davinson Sanchez from Ajax in 2017.
The Frenchman’s arrival from Lyon on a six-year deal will be seen as a statement of intent by last season’s Champions League finalists. Spurs had not signed a player since January 2018, but Ndombele’s arrival was the second in a day, Leeds United winger Jack Clarke having put pen to paper on a £10million deal.
Clarke, 18, will be loaned back to Leeds for the 2019-20 season after becoming Tottenham’s first signing since Lucas Moura joined from Paris St-germain. Ndombele, meanwhile, will be expected to instantly adapt to Premier League
