West Ham United hope to find out this week whether they have been successful in convincing Maxi Gomez to join them ahead of Valencia. Gomez had been leaning towards the prospect of Champions League football with the Spanish club, but West Ham have tried to hijack the deal. They are prepared to pay Celta Vigo a club-record £44.5million transfer fee and make the 22-year-old their highest paid player.
Rodriguez in Burnley return
Jay Rodriguez is poised to quit West Bromwich Albion in a £10million return to Burnley. The forward will complete an emotional reunion with the club after they triggered his release clause at the Hawthorns.
Liverpool to tie down Origi
Liverpool will push on with contract talks with Champions League hero Divock Origi. The 24-year-old, who scored several critical European goals last season, returned to Melwood for training yesterday. He has only one year left on his existing deal.
