West Ham want £45m Gomez

West Ham United hope to find out this week whether they have been suc­cess­ful in con­vinc­ing Maxi Gomez to join them ahead of Va­len­cia. Gomez had been leaning to­wards the prospect of Cham­pi­ons League foot­ball with the Span­ish club, but West Ham have tried to hi­jack the deal. They are pre­pared to pay Celta Vigo a club-record £44.5mil­lion trans­fer fee and make the 22-year-old their high­est paid player.

Ro­driguez in Burn­ley re­turn

Jay Ro­driguez is poised to quit West Bromwich Al­bion in a £10mil­lion re­turn to Burn­ley. The for­ward will com­plete an emo­tional re­union with the club af­ter they trig­gered his re­lease clause at the Hawthorns.

Liver­pool to tie down Origi

Liver­pool will push on with con­tract talks with Cham­pi­ons League hero Divock Origi. The 24-year-old, who scored sev­eral critical Euro­pean goals last sea­son, re­turned to Mel­wood for train­ing yes­ter­day. He has only one year left on his ex­ist­ing deal.
