Reinach hat-trick helps Spring­boks march on

South Africa coach Rassie Eras­mus re­fused to get car­ried away with his side’s prospects af­ter they se­cured their place in the quar­ter­fi­nals.

The Spring­boks reached the knock­out stages as they ran in 10 tries to thrash Canada, as scrum-half Cobus Reinach, of Northamp­ton, claimed a first-half hat-trick.

They must now wait to see which side from Pool A – Ja­pan, Ire­land or Scot­land – they face next. “We will give the guys two days off and then we will be back on the horse again,” said Eras­mus.

“There is some stiff op­po­si­tion but we have a good chance.”
