Fit-again goalkeeper Alisson to bolster Liverpool defence at Old Trafford

The Daily Telegraph - Sport - - Jason Burt - By Chris Bascombe

Alisson Becker is set to return for Liverpool against Manchester United on Sunday after completing his recovery from a calf injury.

The Brazilian goalkeeper will be declared fit ahead of the Old Trafford fixture, providing he completes another full week of training as is expected.

Alisson has stepped up his training schedule during the international break. He has not featured since the opening day of the season when he tore a calf against Norwich City.

Adrian, who signed as a free agent just a few days before the Premier League kick-off, has proved himself an exceptional deputy over the past two months.

It is testimony to the Spaniard’s efforts that Liverpool have maintained a 100 per cent domestic record despite the loss of last season’s Golden Glove winner.

But Alisson was critical to Liverpool’s defensive improvement when he moved from Roma a year ago so it will come as a relief to Jurgen Klopp, the manager, to have him back in the first-team picture again.
