Tottenham let Amazon’s cameras in to follow season
Tottenham Hotspur’s turbulent season will be chronicled in a flyon-the-wall documentary after the club agreed to become the latest to feature in Amazon’s All Or Nothing series.
Tottenham are following Manchester City, Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund in allowing cameras behind the scenes and Amazon said its filmmakers would have “unprecedented access”.
Amazon has not filmed the start of Tottenham’s season, which has included a run of four defeats in their past five games. The club said the documentary would showcase their new stadium and their work to transform the local area.
The documentary will be available in the second half of next year, after the conclusion of a season which has started badly for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. They face Watford today and Pochettino has told Harry Kane to show he is a “natural” leader as the England striker prepares to take over as captain in the absence of the injured Hugo Lloris.
Pochettino drew a comparison to his own leadership, saying he did not feel the “responsibility” of being the Tottenham manager in this difficult period because he was acting naturally. Pochettino went as far as to say he was “flying”, joking that he took part in a training session and did not lose the ball a single time.
Lloris is a long-term absentee with a dislocated elbow but Pochettino said Kane, the England captain, is more than prepared to lead the team through a challenging spell.
“Harry has a good example with Hugo, working with him,” Pochettino said. “He learnt a lot from Hugo. He is young but is learning a lot from different people and he is very mature. He is capable. He does not need to feel too much pressure. He needs to act natural. The most important thing is to not show too much the responsibility on your shoulders, to act natural. If you are a natural leader, you don’t feel the responsibility.
“When you do what you feel in your heart, it’s natural. The problem is if you need to act. If you are not a real leader and you need to act, you spend energy thinking: ‘How do I need to face this problem?’ But if you trust in yourself and you are a natural leader, I promise you don’t feel the responsibility. It’s like I feel now. Of course it’s my responsibility but I am flying. If you see me running on the pitch. I played boxes [keep-ball sessions] for 10, 12 minutes.”
