Eng­land of­ten launched Billy Vu­nipola and Manu Tuilagi, their two most dy­namic car­ri­ers, in tan­dem. Far­rell was able to scan, see which run­ner had fixed de­fend­ers be­fore feed­ing the other one. The phase prior to Jonny May’s first try was a prime ex­am­ple (see pic­ture se­quence right). Sim­i­larly, his pass for Sinck­ler’s try came af­ter Tolu Latu had bit­ten on to Billy Vu­nipola with Chris­tian Leali’ifano wor­ried about Tuilagi lurk­ing out the back.
