Ru­fus de­nies £5.3m fraud

For­mer Charl­ton de­fender Richard Ru­fus, 44, was accused yes­ter­day at South­wark Crown Court of pock­et­ing £5.3 mil­lion in crim­i­nal cash be­tween May 2007 and April 2012 af­ter telling in­vestors in his for­eign cur­rency in­vest­ment scheme it was “low risk”. Ru­fus, 44, ap­peared with­out le­gal rep­re­sen­ta­tion but en­tered not guilty pleas to three counts re­lat­ing to the al­leged fraud. He was re­leased on un­con­di­tional bail ahead of a three-week trial start­ing on June 8 next year.
