Arsenal are investigating whether Pierre-emerick Aubameyang has broken Covid-19 regulations after the club captain was pictured with a tattoo artist at the weekend.

Footage posted on Instagram has shown Aubameyang socialising with tattoo artist Alejandro Nicolas

Bernal in recent days. A video posted on Feb 9 also showed the striker getting a new tattoo from Bernal, although it is unclear when that was filmed.

Arsenal are looking into the matter and have said they will remind Aubameyang of his responsibilities during the lockdown.

If Aubameyang is deemed to have compromised Arsenal’s Covidsecure bubble, he may have to stay away from the training ground until he has returned a negative coronavirus test. Earlier this year the 31-year-old missed three matches after being given permission by the club to travel to see his mother, who was suffering from ill health. Aubameyang subsequently had to stay away from the club for a brief period due to coronavirus protocols.

Arsenal face Benfica tomorrow in a crucial Europa League knockout match, which is taking place in Rome because of the travel restrictions between the UK and Portugal.

“We know that a big part of our future success is related to Auba being at his best and scoring as many goals as possible,” said manager Mikel Arteta.

When you are rock bottom and fighting for survival, you need a bit of luck: Wycombe Wanderers got none at Adams Park last night.

Instead, after an all-action performance that deserved three points, their hearts were broken by Andre Wisdom’s controversial last-gasp winner for Derby County.

Gareth Ainsworth’s side had been denied a legitimate opener after just 15 minutes when Daryl Horgan’s effort was incorrectly adjudged offside. Moments later, they were behind, Uche Ikpeazu powering a header into his own net from a corner. Unperturbed, they punched back, Ikpeazu capping an all-action performance by smashing home the equaliser from the penalty spot shortly after the break.

A point is not enough for the home side and they flooded forward, goalkeeper David Marshall keeping out efforts from Ikpeazu and Anis Mehmeti. Substitute Fred Onyedinma had a penalty appeal

Referee Darren Drysdale appeared to square up to Ipswich’s Alan Judge, who had complained about not being awarded a penalty in the 0-0 League One draw with Northampton. Drysdale, a sergeant in the Royal Air Force, showed the Ipswich player a yellow card for his persistent protests. rejected and salt was ground into the wound when Martyn Waghorn’s free-kick rebounded kindly to Wisdom off a post.

“I couldn’t ask for more from my players, we were outstanding,” Ainsworth said. “I will focus on the positives, because there are too many negatives to mention from the officials. I am not even talking about our second penalty shout – I am talking about the winning goal. If Colin Kazim-richards isn’t offside and interfering with play, then I don’t know what is.”

Wayne Rooney’s Derby have won five of their last six games and move six points clear of the relegation zone. “I’m delighted with three points, but angry with the performance – we have to perform better and be braver,” said Rooney.
