Bournemouth eye Henry as coach
Bournemouth want to speak to Thierry Henry about their vacant manager’s job as they search for a successor to Jason Tindall.
Despite already interviewing former Huddersfield manager David Wagner and ex-nice coach Patrick Vieira, the Championship club are ready to seek permission from CF Montreal to speak to Henry.
Wagner and Vieira this week had their second interviews and remain in the frame, but Henry has emerged as the latest target and the Arsenal legend is expected to hold talks if he is given permission by the Major League Soccer club, where he has been since November 2019.
Bournemouth would ideally like to make a decision by the weekend, which means Henry would be likely to have only one interview.
Aston Villa targeted Henry, 43, before he first moved into management with Ligue 1 Monaco, where he was sacked after just 20 games.
John Terry is not thought to be an option for Bournemouth, while former Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard is unlikely to return to management so quickly.
Bournemouth cemented their place in the play-off spots with a 1-0 win over Rotherham last night, with Philip Billing scoring. Caretaker manager Jonathan Woodgate, when asked if he might land the job fulltime, said: “They’re going through a process to try to get the right manager in. I have no idea who that is.”
