Norwich to Aston Villa, £33m
The obvious assumption to make is that Buendia has been signed from Norwich as a replacement for Jack Grealish, who has joined Manchester City for £100million. In terms of the responsibility to create chances and score goals, this is true. But in terms of his positioning on the pitch, Buendia (left) might be more of a replacement for Ross Barkley. Barkley spent last season at Villa Park, on loan from Chelsea, and started well before fading after a hamstring injury. He generally played as the central attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 system, the area in Buendia thrives (despite the Argentine often starting on the right for Norwich). Buendia is a more dynamic and energetic player than Barkley, and should be far more willing to press in those forward areas, allowing Villa to be more progressive.
